Shot Show 2011

XM 2010

Now the US Army snipers can take out their enemies up to 4000 feet away!

The only way to be safe from it is inside a closed, concrete bunker.
The XM25 Counter Defilade Target Engagement System fires 25mm air-bursting shells up to 2,300 feet, making it most closely related to the grenade launcher, but with a range greater than most rifles used by the Army, AFP reports.
Let's say enemy fighter pops up from behind a wall to fire at U.S. troops and then takes cover before they can respond. An XM25 gunner can then use the laser range finder to get the distance to the wall, program the explosive to go off a few feet behind it, fire over the wall, and then watch as lethal shell fragments rain down from above.
The 12-pound, 29-inch system, which was designed by Minnesota's Alliant Techsystems, costs up to $35,000 per unit and, while highly sophisticated, is easy enough to use that soldiers become proficient within minutes, reports Fox News.
"For well over a week, it's been actively on patrols, and in various combat outposts in areas that are hot," said Lieutenant Colonel Chris Lehner, program manager for the XM25, to the AFP. "This is the first time we're putting smart technology into the hands of the individual soldier.
"It's giving them the edge," he said, in the harsh Afghan landscape where Islamist extremists have vexed US troops using centuries-old techniques of popping up from behind cover to engage. "Now we're taking that away from the enemy forever."

2011 MODEL

I was checking out some of the new guns for 2011 from the Shot Show. Here's a few of em':

^This the new Taurus Raging Judge 28Ga. Now don't get me wrong, I love my 3" Taurus Judge but I have one question for Taurus...Why? This is probably the dumbest idea I've ever seen. I mean seriously, who shoots 28Ga? #1: The ATF will probably never allow this gun to be sold in the US, it would be considered a short barreled shotgun and illegal since it doesn't also shoot a metallic cartridge like the original Judge. #2: Where the heck are you going to find 28Ga. ammo?

^Now this is more like it! The Taurus Raging Judge Magnum is finally going to be released! It's .454 Casull, 45Colt, and .410. It's a 6 shot too.

^Pure Awesome! This is really interesting to me. This is the new Kel-Tec KSG shotgun. The operator is able to move a switch located behind the grip next to the ejection port to select the right or left tube, or move the switch to the center to eject a shell without chambering another round. The bull-pup design results in an overall length of only 26″ with an 18.5″ barrel while the bottom eject design makes the firearm truly ambidextrous. The bull-pup design of the KSG makes it ideal for home defense and CQB. The incredibly short overall length makes it more nimble than a sawed off shotgun, and with a 14+1 capacity you don’t sacrifice ammunition capacity to get a shotty in a small package. MSRP is expected to be less than $800. I want one!

^Ruger says: "Beware the man with one gun, for he probably knows how to use it. Never has this been more true than with the Ruger Gunsite Scout Rifle, the one rifle to have if you could only have one. It is the perfect lightweight, hard-hitting, do-it-all bolt-action rifle." It's .308, 10 in the mag, black laminate stock. Great looking rifle, bet it shoots like a dream.

So what do Y'all think about this new firepower?

TOP GUNS

Brugger & Thomet MP9 / TP9

TP9nosilencer

The Swiss made Brugger & Thomet MP9 is one of the latest generation of ultra compact high tech personal protection weapons. It offers an interim solution between true 'machine pistols' such as Glock 18, and full-size submachine guns, like the Uzi or H&K MP5. The gun is just 30cm long with the stock folded, and only 52cm long with the stock unfolded making it the most compact submachine gun in the world. Made of over 80% high impact polymers the weapon's weight is just 1.4kg (lighter than some handguns!).
The MP9's light weight, small size, folding stock and rounded edges makes it an excellent choice for police and private agencies providing close protection for VIPs. It is also ideal for others requiring a compact yet very reliable and accurate protection weapon such as fighter pilots, tank crews, and undercover police officers. Compared to full-size submachine guns the MP9 offers a similar effective range, but in a far more compact size and weight. This compactness also gives the operator the ability to easily fire single-handed when his second hand is occupied, such when holding a ballistic shield.
This weapon is also available in a semi-automatic version (called TP9) for when full automatic ability is not required. The TP9 is used on the VIP Early Bird, Six Pack and Full Monty shooting events in Prague.
  • Weight: 1.4 kg (empty)
  • Calibre: 9 x 19mm
  • Capacity: 15, 20, 25 or 30 rounds magazines available
Actual gun used may vary in some details from that shown.
